WP LOHUD.COM MONDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2021 11A WEST HARRISON Rocco F. Bambace, a res- ident of West Harrison, passed away peacefully surrounded by his lov- ing family on October 22, 2021. He was born to the late Rocco G. and Maria (Mez- zancello) on He wasmarried to his loving wife, Valerie (Carnemo- la) predeceased him. He is survived by his two children who were the loves of his life, his daughter, Heather (Bambace) Attenello and and his Bambace.

He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Daniella and Juliana Bambace andKyle andMack- enzie Attenello, who brought great love and joy to his life. He will also be greatly missed by his sister, Sherry (Bambace) Salerno, and brother- in-law, Joseph, and he was also very proud to be the uncle of his two nephews, Joseph and Robert (Jaclyn) Salerno and the most recent addition to the family, Makayla Rae Salerno. Rocco was also most proud of his relationship with all of his Bambace andMezzancello cousins.He also leaves behind many devoted friends. Rocco was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church where he could be found every Sunday at the 8:00 a.m.

Mass. His next great joy in life was his love of music. He was an accomplished drummer whose expertise was second to none. He also cherished his life- long relationships with all of his former band members. If one knew Rocco, youmay have been lucky enough to have been given one of his fa- mous You also may have been given one of the many famous nicknames that he had for both family, friends and neighbors.

To remember Rocco, one could only do so with a smile on their face. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home located inWhite Mass of Christian Burial will be celebratedWednesday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church.

He was 92. Charles was born on Janu- ary 17, 1929 to Charles Cavanagh and Mary Morris in Bronx, NY. He is survived by his sister, Pat Ivan of Min- eola, and his five grandchildren, Robert Howard and his wife, Lori, of New Jersey, Michelle Sensi and her husband, Sergio, of Mamaroneck, Maia Matthews of Larchmont, Kate Maldonado and her of Florida, and Tracey Pacelle of White Plains. He is also survived by his ten great-grandchildren; Jessica (Brandon), Alyssa, Sarah, Lily, Jamison, and Serene. Charles was predeceased by his parents, his brothers James Cavanagh and John Cavanagh, his wife Edna Cavanagh, and his children Sharon Lee and Charles (Chip).

Charles was a veteran of the United StatesMa- rine Corps and served in World War II. He had a career in law enforcement with the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department and as a professor of Criminal Justice at Westchester Community College. Powers loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 72. Bill was born on No- vember 19, 1948, in Yonkers, NY toMargaret Lane and Thomas F. Powers. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and in June 1966 at the age of 17 enlisted with the United States Army.He served with the 1st Infantry Division (Big Company, 1st Battalion 28th Infantry in Vietnam where he was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, a Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Medal of Merit, New York State Cross of Gallantry, the Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart. After re- turning from Vietnam and serving three years with the Army, he attended Iona College and earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.

He later married and had three J. Kathleen, and Karyn. Bill started his civilian career with theWestchester County Police in 1970 before joining the Yonkers Police Department in 1972 where he worked as a Police Officer for 23 years rising to the rank of Detective First Grade. Throughout his career, Bill received numerous awards including the Exchange Club Police Officer of theYearAward in 1983, The John SilinskyAward for an off-duty arrest of a burglary in progress in 1991, and a Macy Award for solving a long and difficult homicide. In 1983, he married Linda Ann Freddolino and in October of 1987 had a In 1993, Bill and Linda retired from theYonkers Police Department and moved to Longmont, Colorado where Bill had a 16-year second career with the Boulder County Sheriff Office Communications Division.

Bill worked the graveyard shift from 1994 to 2010 andwas an activemember with the Boulder Rural Fire Protection District. After retiring from the Sheriff Office, Bill became a part-time limousine driver and loved chatting with his customers on their way to and from the airport. Bill was an avid lover of golf, the New York Yankees, and enjoyed playing the football pool at the Red Zone (Pumphouse Brewery) in Longmont. Bill took pride in ensuring everyone he met laughed. He had an infectious outlook on life and would often say Vietnam he knew guys that never had a and how fortunate he was to have 48 years of tomorrows.

He leaves behind his wife Linda Powers in Longmont, son William J. Powers and wife Sari, daughter Kathleen Scaglione and husband James, daughter Karyn Feder and husband Drew, son Thomas Powers and Stephanie, grandchildren Nicholas, Olivia, Katharine, Jason, and Justin, as well as countless friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Margaret, father Thomas brother Thomas Powers Jr. and his beloved golden re- triever Kiah. A wake will be held by Whalen and Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers, NY on Thursday October 28, 2021, between 3 and 7pm.

There will be a mass at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, October 29. Bill will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Yonkers, NY. An additional wake and vigil will occur at home of 28 years in Longmont, CO through the Ahlberg Fu- neral Home onOctober 25th (4pm) and 26th (10am) for local golf buddies and friends.
